    The passing away of veteran industrialist Keshub Mahindra, who built one of India's biggest industrial conglomerates, today at 99 has closed a chapter in the business history of India.



    Mahindra the entrepreneur was one of the 'Midnight's Children', for his career began with the birth of the Indian nation in 1947. In a way, his career ran parallel to the growth of the nation — from steel to tractors to software to electric vehicles, it traced the industrial trajectory of India.

    The socialist-industrial economy, the Green Revolution, the rise of information technology and the new-age electric mobility, all these have been crucial stages of India's economy as well as Mahindra's career.

    Mahindra and Mahindra, of which Keshub was the chairman emeritus, began in the British India in 1945 as Mahindra and Mohammad in Ludhiana, Punjab.
